Here, the Allies listened to what the enemy in the Eastern bloc was planning. At 114 meters it is the highest point in the capital, it could be very well the backdrop for a spy film: it was the British and Americans that eavesdropped on the eastern bloc from the monitoring system with the distinctive white dome up to a 700 kilometer distance.
Today there are tours through the ruins of the listening device, which was once top secret.
After the fall of the wall everything changed. In 1992, the Americans gave up the station and took the electronic equipment with them. The radar systems could still be used for civil air surveillance for a while. Four private investors bought the site - but their plans failed. The house fell into disrepair. The rooms in which the bugging troops sat can hardly be entered today. The prominent radar domes are also dilapidated. But the view is beautiful: from the television tower to the Olympic Stadium, Berlin can be enjoyed in a 360-degree panorama.
