Hello, I’m A’DAM – the big tower behind Amsterdam’s Central Station, and the one beside the spaceship-like EYE Film Institute. I’m a building of 22 stories, with many more to tell.
I can see everything: from Amsterdam’s historic centre, to its bustling port and the vast polder landscape. I can even spot your house from here. I share this breathtaking 360° view from my observation deck. I also host several cool bars and restaurants, and a bunch of pioneering music companies. Expect no sleep as I am open day and night, 25 hours a day, 8 days a week.
A’DAM LOOKOUT is an observation deck with an unrivalled panoramic view of Amsterdam. You’ll see the city’s historical centre, its pulsating port, the unique Dutch polder landscape and you’ll spot the famous canals which belong to the UNESCO world heritage list. Complementing the experience is a state-of-the-art interactive exhibition about Amsterdam’s history and culture. A’DAM LOOKOUT is located on top of the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam North.
‘Over the Edge’ is Europe’s highest swing on our sky deck. Daredevils and thrill seekers will swing 100 meters above the ground, back and forth over the edge of the tower with Amsterdam below their feet. Enjoy the unrivalled view over our capital city, while the adrenaline flows through your body.
A’DAM Toren is the new name for ‘Toren Overhoeks’. A’DAM is proud of its roots – as it boldly claims the well-known abbreviation of Amsterdam. The brand name A’DAM also stands for ‘Amsterdam and Music’, which reflects the business of the owners and main tenants: ID&T, AIR Events and MassiveMusic.
A’DAM has undergone a massive renovation that has transformed it into an iconic multifunctional tower. It is now home to a mix of offices, cafés, restaurants, a hotel, a 360º observation point, a revolving restaurant and the highest swing in the City!
This 79-meter-high Tower block from the late sixties used to house Shell's general services and directorate. At that time, it was one of the tallest civil buildings in Amsterdam.
Because of the limited space, architect Arthur Staal decided to build high. In so doing, he broke with the strict horizontality of the existing building development and, moreover, positioned the building diagonally – ‘overhoeks’ – in relation to the IJ waterfront. The orientation of the canopy and the entrance wing parallel to the IJ waterfront accentuates the diagonal rotation of the body of the building.
Sir Adam is the name of the urban luxury boutique hotel on my first eight floors. Here discerning lifestyle travellers, locals and neighbours can stay in a stylish and captivating environment. The hotel provides an integrated lifestyle experience with 108 guest rooms and creative spaces offering breathtaking views over Amsterdam.
It’s worth noting that the elusive Sir Adam, music impresario and hospitality-king, kindly opened his doors to the public in February 2017. So one can delight at ‘The Butcher Social Club’ (featuring a stylish restaurant, a riverside terrace and destination bar), ‘The BeerGarden’ and a gym class by Fresh Fitness. Amazingly, this welcoming space is open 24/7.
