This bridge beat the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge (in Switzerland) holding the record for the longest suspension bridge in the world. That one was no less than 494 meters long, but now the bridge in Arouca is more than twenty meters longer (516 meters) and hangs more than 175 metres above ground.
