In the Gardens of the World, visitors can enjoy international gardening culture in nine themed gardens; from a Chinese Garden, a Japanese Garden, to an Italian Renaissance Garden. The Gardens are part of the 51-acre Marzahn Recreational Park (Erholungspark Marzahn). Beautiful meadows, flower beds and walking paths extend all over the vast park grounds.
In June 2007, the garden maze, modelled after the famous maze in the park of the British Royal Palace Hampton Court, was opened. It invites visitors to put their orientation skills to the test following its many paths, crossroads and dead ends. Every Year in April the Thee Cherry Blossom Festival is held in the park. The festival takes place on the occasion of "Hanami", which means "looking at blossoms" in Japanese and refers to the traditional Japanese cherry blossom festival. In Japan, the cherry blossom is regarded as a symbol of transience and beauty because it can only be admired for a few days each year.
